Sponsored visas for the trades.
Trade Visa is Solve Migration’s team for the trades: building, construction, electrical, plumbing, automotive and hospitality sponsorship, and getting your skills recognised. Three applications, one team, one fixed fee.
Powered by Solve Migration
Every Trade Visa matter is run by Solve Migration’s Registered Migration Agents, with offices in five cities and advice in eight languages. Same team, same standards, built for the trades.
Why sponsorship goes wrong
Three applications, not one.
Most sponsorship problems start when the job on paper doesn’t match the occupation it’s nominated under. We check all three applications against each other before anything is lodged.
The sponsor
The business is approved as a standard business sponsor: it has to be lawfully operating, with no adverse history, and it takes on obligations that last for years.
The nomination
The role is nominated under an occupation on the current list, at a salary that meets the threshold, with labour market testing done and documented. This is where duties and titles get tested.
The visa
The worker shows the skills, experience, English and health and character requirements for that occupation. If the nomination was weak, the visa inherits the problem.
Who this is for
Three situations. If one is yours, read on.
If a business in Australia has offered to sponsor you…
- You’re on a temporary visa here, or offshore with an offer
- You’re not sure your trade or your experience fits the occupation
- You want to know what the employer does and what you do
- You want the path from temporary to permanent mapped out
If you run a trade business, from a building site to a kitchen, and can’t fill a role…
- You’ve found someone, here or overseas, and want to keep them
- You need to know the steps, the costs and who pays what
- You want labour market testing and the paperwork done properly
- A nomination was refused and you want it reviewed
If you have the years on the tools but not the Australian certificate…
- Your trade needs a skills assessment before the visa can proceed
- You want your experience recognised as a qualification
- You need the recognition and the visa to run on one timeline
Not in one of these situations? Trade Visa works on sponsored matters only. For anything else, contact Solve Migration directly.
Industries
Built for the industries that sponsor trades.
Each industry has its own sponsor problems: licences, duties that don’t match the occupation, regional rules. Pick yours.
Skills recognition
Years on the tools, but no Australian certificate?
Recognition of prior learning can turn documented experience into a nationally recognised qualification. For many trades, that qualification or a skills assessment has to be in place before the visa can move.
Partner firm
TradeQualify runs the RPL. We fit it into your visa timeline.
TradeQualify is our partner firm for recognition of prior learning and trade qualifications. You deal with one process: they handle the evidence and the qualification, we handle the sponsorship and the visa, and the two run in the right order.
Ask about RPLHow a matter runs
Four steps. The same system Solve Migration runs on every matter.
The SolvePlan
A paid strategy session with a senior Migration Specialist. We read what you have, check the job against the occupation, and tell you straight what the pathway is and what could go wrong.
The plan
You receive a written plan for your matter: the pathway, the documents, the order of applications and the risks. It is yours to keep whichever way you go.
The work
If you engage us, one fixed fee covers the whole team: Migration Specialists, in-house writers for position and duties documents, HR and business analysts, and Client Services who speak to your employer or your worker as often as it takes.
The outcome
We lodge, respond to the Department and keep you informed at each stage. If a decision goes the wrong way, the same team advises on review options.
SolvePlan fee and inclusions as shown at solvemigration.com/solveplan. No outcome is ever guaranteed.
What we can show you
Proof, not promises.

Who you’re dealing with
Adam Khaze, Founder and Director, Solve Migration.
Adam founded Solve Migration and leads its work on employer sponsorship and Tribunal review. He speaks publicly on migration policy and on what sponsorship is like from the worksite, not just the office. Trade Visa matters are run by his team under the same system as every Solve Migration matter.
FAQ
Common questions
General information only. Figures change: we confirm the current rule for your matter in your SolvePlan.
Who pays for what when a business sponsors a worker?
Some costs must stay with the business and cannot be recovered from the worker, including the sponsorship and nomination costs and the Skilling Australians Fund levy. The worker’s own visa application charge and the professional fees for the visa application can be paid by the worker. We set out the split for your matter in the SolvePlan. Current rule and amounts are confirmed against Home Affairs on the day.
How long does sponsorship take?
There are three applications: the business’s sponsorship approval, the nomination of the role, and the worker’s visa. Timing depends on which stream applies, whether a skills assessment is needed and how complete the file is. We don’t quote processing times publicly because they move; we give you the current Department figures in your session.
Can I change employer on a 482?
Yes, within limits. A new employer must nominate you and there is a set period to find one after you stop work. The current period is confirmed in your SolvePlan. Changing jobs without a new nomination puts the visa at risk, so get advice before you resign.
Do I need an English test?
Usually, yes, unless you hold a passport from one of the exempt countries or, for the 482 only, meet the study-in-English exemption. The required level differs between the 482 and the 186. See English for trades.
My nomination or visa was refused. Is that the end?
Not necessarily. Most refusals carry a right to seek review at the Administrative Review Tribunal, with a strict deadline that starts from the date on the letter. Find that date first, then book a SolvePlan. Solve Migration publishes its de-identified Tribunal decisions so you can see how these matters have been argued.
What is RPL and do I need it?
Recognition of prior learning turns documented experience into an Australian qualification. For some trades a skills assessment or formal qualification is required before the visa can proceed. Our partner firm TradeQualify runs the RPL process; we fit it into the visa timeline. See Skills recognition.
